"Alsup's buoyant attitude and bright, high-energy music could hit a home run with new, young fans. His music could find a place on the radio with any number of pop-oriented stations." - Katie Hasty, Billboard Magazine (New York, NY) Tee-Bop Records and pop/soul singer, songwriter and pianist Todd Alsup are proud to announce the release of his third studio album, “Currency.” The LP is available for sale on digital outlets iTunes and Amazon and on the artist's official website www.toddalsup.com. “Currency” is the follow- up to the award-winning 2011 release “Todd Alsup.” This new project was conceived and recorded in Switzerland with producer Orlando Ribar and funded by the generous support of Alsup's fans (“The Todd Squad”) via two successful Kickstarter campaigns. The eight tracks on “Currency” showcase Alsup's knack for intelligent, soulful and deeply personal storytelling. Lush piano lines, infectious grooves, vibrant horns, warm synths, and Alsup's signature vocals fill out a modern pop/soul album overflowing with catchy hooks. The lyrics are honest and raw, surpassing the emotional content of his previous material. “I've done a lot of growing up since my last album,” says Alsup. “I'm less afraid to simply be myself. I've learned many important lessons about self-acceptance, sex, gratitude, and embracing change. On this album you're getting a much more unfiltered version of me.” Alsup was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit. His two studio albums “Facts & Figures” and “Todd Alsup” have netted various accolades including a 2012 Out Music Award for Pop Song of the Year, a Yamaha endorsement, placements on MTV and PBS, and features in Billboard Magazine and Performing Songwriter. In addition to his nightly residency at NYC's Redeye Grill, Alsup will be playing various full-band shows around NYC to promote “Currency”. An official video for lead single “How About We (Stay In Love)” is in the works. He also plans to tour Switzerland and German in May 2017.
