Welcome to The Muri Competition!

In April 2013, the first international competition for oboe and bassoon will be held in the Swiss town of Muri. For nine days, talented young soloists from around the world will compete for prestigious prizes and titles. With Heinz Holliger and David Zinman as honorary advisors, an international jury composed of renowned soloists and university professors will ensure the outstanding quality of the competition. In the future, the competition will be held every four years.

Everybody benefits at the Muri Competition

We take that seriously. We want everybody involved to benefit from participating in The Muri Competition - candidates, jurors, visitors, our partners and the population of Muri.

The Muri Competition is a project of the Murikultur Foundation. Its artistic directors, world-renowned bassoonist Matthias Rácz (solo bassoonist at the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and professor at the Zurich University of the Arts),  Martin Frutiger (solo English horn at the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich) and Renato Bizzotto (solo oboist at the Symphonic Orchestra Zurich) have designed a world-class event for double-reed soloists.

Murikultur offers young soloists the opportunity to compete in an attractive contest where everyone is sure to have a great experience, no matter how far you get. Laureates will have excellent prospects for an international career.

We thank our partners Restaurant Schifflaende and UBS for their kind and generous support!
